In Hawaii, there is no bounty hunters-specific law.  In performing his/her functions, a bounty hunter’s conduct must comply with any applicable law of the state.

Pursuant to HRS § 804-14, those who have become bail for anyone, can at any time discharge themselves, by surrendering him/her to the custody of any sheriff or chief of police or his/her authorized subordinate.
